The Shepherdless Psalm / Psalm 23 is a contrast of ways in the world that result from engaged world views. It continues to be a fruitful tool for dialogue, witness, and encouragement. It is important to really listen. Some people see themselves fully in the Shephedless Psalm and have a hard time imagining the world or world view of someone on a different path.
One good exercise for the creative is to say, “here are two contrasting paths that express what people feel or have felt about the path of life that they are on”. One is a Psalm of King David. One reflect one experience of “The American Dream” as defined by consumerism. If you were to write about your own path… what would you say? Do you identify with either of these paths or neither of them? Where would you like to see yourself?
