This book is the soul-stirring story of a man who turned from a life of sin and learned to trust wholly in Christ.  Muller believed that we are nothing and can do nothing without God. His life is a challenge to us today to be a true blessing to others through the prayer and service that are the natural result of abiding in Christ. Even in his 80’s and 90’s, Muller actively served His Lord. His life is a true inspiration for us today.

Description

During the 1800’s, George Muller was an ordinary man who led a life full of sin–until he found God. After his conversion, he devoted his entire life to doing God’s work. By 1875 he had founded five large orphanages, which housed over 10,000 street children, in Bristol, England. Though he was poor, Muller never asked anyone for money. Instead, he relied solely on God to provide for all the needs of the orphans and orphanage staff. Throughout his entire life, Muller trusted in God to meet his every need–and never once did he go into debt.

Note:  George Muller was a man of his times.  We have learned a lot about better practices that serve the poor and work to keep families together.  The point of his work is his reliance on God.  Not that we should continue to create more orphanages in the world.  Still we need a better response Globally to all the homeless children all around the world… generally it is far better to keep families together whenever possible.  Then it is better to reconstitute inter-generational communities rather than just children and care givers.  Sometimes we have to engage and redeem the structures that have served one generation of need with something yet to come… Keep dreaming.
